We photographed and videotaped an event for the IPC in January, 2024, in which the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario held a panel on Artificial Intelligence in the Public Sector at the MaRS Discovery District. IPC Commissioner, Patricia Kosseim, was in attendance. Also in attendance was businessman, Jim Balsillie.
Being that AI is so front and centre within both the governmental and corporate spheres, it was a fascinating conversation to listen in on while carrying out our duties.
The panel was made up of the following:
Dr. Melissa Kittmer, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Data Division, Ministry of Public and Business Services
Colin McKay, (former Head of Public Policy, Google), expert in data protection and public policy
Christopher Parsons, Ph.D., Chief Technology Policy and Strategic Initiatives, Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario
Teresa Scassa, Ph.D., Canada Research Chair in Information Law and Policy, University of Ottawa
Jeni Tennison, Ph.D., Founder and Executive Director, Connected by Data
Stephen Toope, President and CEO, Canadian Institute for Advanced Research
